The fine addicts over at Crackberry got themselves a pre-release BlackBerry Javelin, and found it to be a worthy follow-up to the Curve, as well as having advantages even over the schmancy-pants Bold. The Javelin is not only the smallest of the three, which feels great in the hand and the pocket, but also boasts the sharpest screen at 480×360 HVGA+, for smaller and crisper icons. The camera, processor, and internal memory all get a significant bump from the Curve, making it noticeably snappier. In terms of navigation, the keyboard is very slightly more condensed, but the reviewer finds it just as easy to use. But the biggest improvement might be the smallest – a dedicated Lock button. We still don’t have an official release date or price, but the pre-release review is a happy hint that it might come out sooner rather than later. [Crackberry]

Công nghệ Centrino 2 gồm 3 thành phần chính là bộ xử lý Intel Core 2 Duo, chipset mới cải thiện khả năng đồ họa (Mobile Intel 45 Express Chipset), và hỗ trợ kết nối Wifi 802.11n tốc độ nhanh nhưng tiết kiệm điện năng (Intel Wifi Link 5000 series).
Trên nền tảng Centrino 2 có 7 bộ vi xử lý Intel Core 2 Duo chia làm 3 dòng sản phẩm, dòng P gồm P8400, P8600, P9500, dòng T gồm T9400 và T9600, và dòng X9100 Core 2 Extreme. Các bộ vi xử lý dòng P sử dụng tiết kiệm điện năng hơn dòng T nhưng có hiệu suất kém hơn. Cũng nên biết là tất cả các bộ xử lý Centrino 2 có tốc độ bus FSB (kết nối giữa bộ vi xử lý với các thành phần quan trọng khác như bộ nhớ) là 1066 MHz, cho phép xử lý nhiều dữ liệu hơn. Điều này hữu ích với việc xử lý các ứng dụng đồ họa và video.
Chipset Mobile Intel 45 Express, tên mã là Cantiga gồm hai phiên bản là PM và GM. Bên cạnh đó, công nghệ Deep Power Down có trong MTXT Centrino 2 giúp bộ vi xử lý tiết kiệm điện hơn. Khi ở chế độ Deep Power Down, bộ vi xử lý ở trạng thái tiết kiệm điện gần mức tắt máy tính hoàn toàn.
Khả năng kết nối không dây Wifi trong các MTXT Centrino cũng được cải thiện đáng kể. Intel hiện có hai loại card Wifi Link 5100 và Wifi Link 5300 dành cho các máy tính dùng công nghệ Centrino 2, cung cấp thông lượng tới 300 Mbps và tốc độ chuyển dữ liệu tới 450 Mbps. Theo Intel thì các máy tính Centrino 2 được tung ra từ nay đến cuối năm 2008 sẽ chưa có hỗ trợ kết nối Wimax.
